AAS 14-032 Distributed GN&C Flight Software Simulation for Spacecraft Cluster Flight
نویسندگان
چکیده
A spacecraft simulation environment was developed for testing distributed spacecraft flight software (FSW) designed for autonomous coordinated control of a spacecraft cluster. The Cluster Flight Application (CFA) FSW was developed by Emergent Space Technologies in support of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) System F6 Program. The CFA provides cluster flight guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) functionality for controlling a cluster of spacecraft. This paper provides an overview of the Distributed Integrated Environment for CFA Analysis, Simulation, and Testing (DIECAST) used for CFA FSW development, verification and validation testing, and evaluation of CFA performance, reliability, and robustness.

An Open-Source, extensible spacecraft simulation and modeling (OpenSESSAME) framework was developed with the aim of providing to researchers the ability to quickly test satellite algorithms while allowing them the ability to view and extend the underlying code. The software is distributed under the GPL (General Public License) and the package’s extensibility allows users to implement their own ...
متن کاملHigh-Fidelity Simulation for Spacecraft Autonomy Development
To maximize the profitability of modern satellites, designers must invest their spacecraft with both capability and reliability. On-board, autonomous software holds the promise of greatly enhancing spacecraft abilities, yet software glitches have been directly to blame for recent, highly publicized failures. This paper presents the flightsoftware development framework created for the Generalize...
متن کاملA Distributed Flight Software Design for Satellite Formation Flying Control
Several NASA and DoD missions are envisioned that will utilize distributed, autonomous clusters of spacecraft. The Air Force Research Laboratory initiated the TechSat 21 mission to demonstrate the key enabling technologies of formation flying and distributed radar. Princeton Satellite Systems developed the Formation Flying Module (FFM) for TechSat 21 to provide autonomous reconfiguration, forma...
متن کاملA Consolidated ACS Flight Software Development Approach for the Earth Observing-1 Spacecraft
The Earth Observing 1 (EO-1) mission is part of NASA’s New Millennium Program (NMP). The EO-1 Attitude Control System (ACS) flight software was based on the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) flight software, both of which were developed by the Hammers Company, Inc. Lessons learned during TRMM ACS software development led to a consolidated software development approach for the EO-1 ACS....
